The Courthouse

Built in 1850, the beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse is the home of the local government and a popular location for weddings. Its stunning features, including the Mural Room and Garden, attract visitors from all over the world every year.

Ferry Rides

Looking to take a trip to the Channel Islands National Park? Through Island Packers, you can book a ferry ticket to any of the five islands. Scorpion Ranch and Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island are visited year round. Trips to the Landing Cove on East Anacapa Island are also visited year round. During ideal low-tide conditions in the winter and early spring, visitors can explore the tide pools of Frenchy’s Cove on Anacapa Island. You can take a trip to Santa Barbara Island from April to October, San Miguel Island from May to October, and Santa Rosa Island from April to November.

Day trips are offered to the island, or you may reserve a campsite. Island Packers also provides non-landing cruises which include Island Wildlife Cruises, Whale Watching, and Harbor Cruises.

The Harbor

Visitors to Santa Barbara love to walk around the harbor and gaze at the dynamic selection of motoryachts and sailboats - both traditional and modern. Take a walk along the Santa Barbara Breakwall that will lead you to a small patch of land, also known as Sandspit. Make sure to order a cup of clam chowder from Brophy Brothers Restaurant, located on the Harbor, and try ice cream from the Breakwater Cafe!

Land Shark

This motorized vehicle, also known as the “Land Shark,” first takes you for a ride downtown, passing by Santa Barbara’s attractions and historical landmarks. The second part of the tour leads you into the ocean by the Santa Barbara Harbor where you may be lucky enough to encounter sea lions, dolphins, and whales. This is a great way to tour Santa Barbara and you get the best of both worlds – touring by both land and sea!

Stearn’s Wharf

Located on the east side of the Santa Barbara Harbor, Stearns Wharf is a popular tourist attraction and also a fun spot for locals. Enjoy a nice dinner at The Harbor Restaurant, or order drinks at Longboards Grill and sit on their outdoor patio while watching the sunset. Find a souvenir at Coastal Treasures, or buy ice cream at the Great Pacific Ice Cream Company.

Wine Tasting

Santa Barbara’s “Funk Zone” is a hip neighborhood home to art galleries, artisan shops, award-winning microbreweries, and wineries. Wine taste at Corks & Crowns, Kalyra, Pali, or Diver’s Den, then visit the Museum of Contemporary Art or The Santa Barbara Art Foundry. Wine experts and food gurus will not be disappointed with the selection of the Funk Zone!


The Santa Barbara Zoo was founded in 1963 and is home to 160 species of mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects, also holding 30 acres of botanic gardens of varying plant species. Some of the exotic animals include a Chilean Flamingo, an African Lion, a Western Lowland Gorilla, and a Snow Leopard. The zoo strives to educate by offering hands-on activities, programs, and summer camps to the community. The Santa Barbara Zoo is a perfect place to entertain young children.
